Building Services

The Custodial Division is a unit of the Facilities Management Department made up of building service workers, forepersons, supervisors, assistant superintendents, and a superintendent. Their job is to maintain the cleanliness of all General Revenue buildings (academic buildings, classrooms and farm offices) and Bond Revenue buildings (residence halls, food services, athletic facilities) on the Illinois State University campus.

Innovative practices in interior cleaning include the incorporation of color-coded floor plans that provide clear guidelines of areas to clean, based upon space type and frequency. The task of interior cleaning is accomplished through a staff of 220 building service workers, three managers and 10 forepersons. Custodial Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the exception of approved holidays and administrative closure days.

For questions regarding scheduling of specific areas, call the Building Services Department at (309) 438-2035. To report emergency cleaning needs or to request special cleaning services for event support, please call the Work Management Department at (309) 438-2036.
