Fiscal Year 2007 Projects

U-High Phase 4 - Unit Ventilators

This is the fourth phase of a multi-phase project to replace the ventilators in all areas of University High School. The units being replaced are original to the building and are located on the second and third floors. In earlier phases of this project, 29 ventilators were replaced, mostly on the second floor.

Maintenance to Chilled Water Zones

This project calls for the installation of Amiad-type filters in the distribution loops for the Science Laboratory Building chiller and the quad loop chiller at the heating plant. These filters will reduce the contaminants in the chilled water which will help extend the life of the chillers and maintain their efficiency.

Metcalf Domestic Water Heaters

The domestic hot water heaters and an adjacent steam station will be removed. The water heaters will be replaced with a new energy efficient tankless system. The replacement is necessary because the current system was installed before the first floor of the building was formed and poured. This has limited the ability for regular maintenance and the system has begun to fail. The steam station will not be replaced as a new station was installed at Fairchild Hall recently to service both buildings.

Felmley Supply Fans

New fresh air supply fans will be installed in Felmley Hall and Felmley Annex. The existing make-up air unit has been out of service for several years causing air quality issues in Felmley Hall. Therefore the main purpose of this project is to improve the indoor air quality. The unit in Felmley Annex has been leaking and must be replaced. In addition, the controls will be upgraded to Direct Digital Controls (DDC).

Centennial East Mechanical Room

This project will upgrade several systems located in the mechanical room of Centennial East. The equipment is original to the building and in poor condition. The work to be completed includes the following: removing the abandoned chiller and repairing the condensate system, removing an unneeded steam station, replacing sections of deteriorated domestic water lines, and insulating the remaining piping and ductwork.
