The Custodial Division is a unit of the Facilities Management Department made up of building service workers, forepersons, supervisors, assistant superintendents, and a superintendent. Their job is to maintain the cleanliness of all buildings on the Illinois State University campus.
Innovative practices in cleaning include the incorporation of color-coded floor plans that provide clear guidelines of areas to be cleaned, based upon space type and frequency. The task of interior cleaning is accomplished through a staff of 220 building service workers, 4 managers, and 10 forepersons. Custodial Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the exception of approved holidays and administrative closure days.
